Nordelph Traders: Pottery

Bodger's Farm Studio Pottery is in fact a pair of enterprises. You'll find their Bed & Breakfast operation listed on our accommodation page, but there's also a thriving pottery which offers not only pieces for sale, but also gift vouchers, tuition, studio hire and even 'fun days'. An extra service that Bodger's Farm offers is their bespoke house sign service, described on a separate page.

It's run by Howard and Kate Phillips, and Kate describes the philosophy of the pottery operation in these words:

"My inspiration is taken from the special kind of beauty of evolved intuitive design and mastery of material and technique through constant repetition. I love ancient pots and much of my work is based upon research into the shape, form, and surface of 10th century Viking pots and the ancient Japanese tea ceremonial vessels."

Throughout our website (www.bodgersfarmpottery.co.uk) you will find examples of my work. Most is either in stoneware or porcelain however different materials, and indeed glazes, can be used to client's requirements. I am always happy to discuss and quote for individual commissions. Commissions taken have varied from sculptural pieces for interior design through to special gifts such as presentation platters, wedding accessories, corporate mugs and complete dinner services.

Each piece of work is hand-made and therefore unique. No two items can ever be exactly the same which gives pottery its unique appeal to collectors and users alike. Each of my pieces carries my mark - a stylised 'AKP' followed by the mark I adopt for each year."

Visitors are always welcome at the pottery studio but do please telephone first to make sure Kate is available.
