Pophams Eau work day -- 18th March 2006

It was ripsaws and loppers to the ready when a group of hardy souls, led by Jackie and Toby, set to work to clear an area at Popham's Eau one Saturday in March.
Under Toby's guidance, elders were razed to the ground to form a clearing and the debris was used to form huge heaps called "stacks" which, hopefully, the wildlife will find an attractive habitat. Jackie provided "grabbers" and black sacks to clear the litter, some probably dating back many years, in hopes that the humans might find it an attractive habitat too!

Young Georgina, who joined us, was a great help and it was good to see a group of curious children, who also lent a hand. In the meantime, we weathered blizzards and the occasional spell of sunshine but had alot of fun. The highlight of the afernoon was when Toby boiled a "brew" using a billy can and a few bits of twig for a fire. The resulting cuppa was very welcome and much appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who turned up on the day, especially to Jackie and Toby for their help and guidance.
So, what next? Jackie has arranged to hold a follow up meeting in the comfort of the Village Hall on the 5th April when ideas on how the site could be developed will be most welcome. Why not come along and join us to help make your village a more interesting place to live in?
