MOBILE SERVICES IN NORDELPH

Since the Post Office savaged the national network of its offices in 2008, closing down the Nordelph branch and two of the three offices in Downham Market, the village has been served by the mobile office pictured above. From May 14th 2009, it is available from 1300--1330 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and parks in High Street opposite Willow Cottage.
As well as the 'obvious' things that Post Offices do -- like sell stamps -- this mobile branch offers a full service, including car tax renewals, cash withdrawals and travel money (US dollars, euros and Turkish lira are available on demand, other currencies to order). About the only service not available from the mobile office is the 'check and send' service for driving licence and passport applications. As far as we're aware, these are still available from the Wisbech office. There's also a stock of wrapping paper and similar stationery, and the service includes home shopping returns and banking services.

There's also a less frequent mobile library service that calls approximately every three weeks. Its current schedule, and its stopping places, can be downloaded from this website, or inspected at: www.norfolk.gov.uk/consumption/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=259
