You might feel that this is a bit of a cheat, seeing as I obviously didn't take this photograph myself. But you asked for favourite images, and this one taken from the Columbia space shuttle is certainly one of mine! I think what I like most (and I like a lot of things) is the realisation that day and night are so little distance apart across Europe -- and how dramatically lit the night is.
