A bit of a cheat having three images instead of one, but these don't work unless you can see what's going on. This is the 'cathedral of the trees' beside the river Wear where it circles Durham Cathedral. If you sit in the seat (on the left), the apparently random grouping of carved stumps (right) line up to form a scene -- but from that position only. I can hardly imagine how the artist conceived and executed it.
