Parish Council Meeting
May 23rd 2007

This was the first meeting of the newly-elected Parish Council. The first task of such a meeting is to elect the Chairman for the follwing year, and Geoff Cosson who has filled this role for a total of 20 years indicated that he felt it was time for a change by proposing Mr Balls as Chair. This was agreed, as was the appointment of Mr Marshall as the vice chair.

The new chairman opened his term of office by paying tribute to Mr Cosson's service.

Mrs Jones had been unavailable to sign the nomination papers prior to the election, and hence was co-opted onto the new council. Nevertheless, this still leaves two vacancies on the Council.

The chairman and clerk reported that they had attended the joint meeting of Parish Councils held at Welney, who had asked for support over improvements to the Wash Road, which had been flooded for 100 days last winter. It had been agreed to support Welney in this.

Mrs Gott showed a specimen copy of the newsletter, which was very much approved of and work continues on a full copy.

Your webmaster (who was unable to be present at the meeting) had written to the Council, requesting access to the minutes. In the past, it was unnecessary to clarify this matter, as the webmaster received the minutes as a member of the Council, but had not stood for election in 2007. The Council said nice things about the website, and agreed the request.
