NORDELPH'S FUN DAY -- AUGUST 12th 2006

As indicated at our last update, this is simply an interim posting to publicise the latest details of the Village Fun Day; it is not our regular August update.
Beyond this home page, we have only updated the Church services for August and the minutes of the May 2006 Parish Council Meeting (we had no reporter at the July meeting, and we apologise that there is no report on that).
Our next update will follow later this month, after the Fun Day, with a full report and pictures, together with a wealth of our regular features and new content for the summer.

Plans for the Fun Day are now well into the final stages. We desperately need prizes for the RAFFLE and soft toys for the TOMBOLA . Of course any offers of help, however small would be appreciated. All to Jean at Ashlee, High Street (next to church) ASAP.

Timings for the event are as follows, but please be aware that these can only be approximate

The JUNIOR RAFT RACE (under 14s) - for which all entrants will receive a small prize will start at 1.00pm.
All paddlers and crew will be expected to wear life jackets (a few are available to borrow) plus we would like to see as many as possible dressed as PIRATES - Yo ho ho, but sadly no bottle of rum on this occasion!

The ADULT RAFT RACE will commence at 1.30pm and run from the Staithe to the Village Hall where it is hoped the BAR B Q will be fired up and ready once the race is over.

Incidentally we have heard that there maybe one or two rafts in the village which due to work commitments will be lying idle on the day - if you would be interested in entering a team but do not have the necessary mode of transport , speak to Jean Manning or Susan Venn.
Mr and Mrs Venn will be demonstrating some traditional waterways crafts at around this time, and if you want a reminder of Nordelph's last Raft Race (in 2004), the pictures are available by clicking above!

Once everyone has got their breath back from either paddling or cheering the RAFT RACE, maybe had a cup of tea and tasty, locally produced burger, the GREASY POLE will get under way at about 3.00pm

CARPET BOWLS will be taking place all afternoon as will the TOMBOLA stall and BOUNCY CASTLE for the U 14's

Karen, with her FACE PAINTS, will be working after the raft race, but she will need a break or two so bear with her!

We have a comprehensive display of NORDELPH THEN AND NOW. Rumour has it that one or two previously unseen photographs have surfaced and will be on show. If anyone has any old photos or items of memorabilia that you think could be useful please let Jean know. And remember that our Nordelph Past section of this website already has a number of photographs of old Nordelph to entertain you.

Refreshments will be served throughout the event, but please note that should you prefer something a little stronger than tea you must bring your own.

This will be the last time of writing before the event so please help us to make it a success.
Do come along and join in even if it is only to cheer on the intrepid rafters

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU
