Welcome to the Nordelph Community web site.
We're loading this update to the website on the date of the ancient pagan festival of 'Beltane' which marked the beginning of summer. This year, that falls on the equally pagan festival of DIY and garden centres known as 'Bank Holiday Monday'. But despite these pagan omens, we've found time to update the church services for May into June.
The saddest news we have to announce, though, is that the Chequers will be closing on June 11th. We were asked to use it or lose it -- we guess we lost it! But while it's still in business, don't miss the Virgin Cosmetics Evening in the pub on May 5th (no election references -- we promised to keep the website election-free) at 7.30
On the website, there's also another one of our accounts from residents on Why we live here; as always, clicking on the link above takes you to the new material, while the index entry takes you to the master page from which you can access any of the accounts.
Our Fen Food section is growing too! Slightly out of time for the 2005 season, we've discovered a simple but accomplished sprouting broccoli and Parma ham starter, and we've added a personal favourite: curried parsnip soup.
In the last update, we reported on the first Homewatch meeting. A follow-up meeting to identify coordinators was held on April 18th, and there's a full report of this in our Parish Council section.
In other sections of the website, you'll find new material in Nordelph Future -- a report of the third meeting of the Community Communications Group, and an article on getting digital TV in the Fens -- you can access these items from the Nordelph Future home page (click on the tab above). Nordelph Past and Web Matters are unchanged from last month.
Do read the Communications Group report -- it reveals the plans for a Community Day that we're holding in the village on the afternoon of Saturday June 18th. If you would like to promote your club, your charity, your business or even yourself at the event, we'd be pleased to hear from you. There'll also be a limited number of car boot/table top places available at £2 per pitch. For more information, please contact Emma Shapland (01366 324197, before 6.30pm) or Jane Manning (01366 324129).
